Sabah’s first High Court judge remembered
Late Charles Ho Nyen Cheung
Kota Kinabalu: Beneath his façade of a conventional no-nonsense man, the late Datuk Seri Charles Ho was not only a kind, just and fair judge but one who would go out of his way to help. Former Chief Justice Tan Sri Richard Malanjum described Ho - Sabah’s first High Court judge - as strict yet fair to those coming before him. “A man of high integrity and kind in his own way,” he said.

Ho passed away on Oct 4 at age 83 after a brief illness. He was called to the Bar at the Middle Temple in 1963 and after completing his pupillage began his law career as a Cadet Legal Officer at the North Borneo Attorney-General’s Office.
