Kota Kinabalu: The case of an Indonesian fisherman charged with murdering his former wife been postponed to Oct 27.
Melo Guli’s case was supposedly set for mention at the Magistrate’s Court, Monday, but the case has been adjourned due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Melo, 37, was accused of committing the offence to vegetable seller, Rina Amat, 37, a foreigner with a passport at 2.30pm on Feb 11 in a rented room on the second floor of Block I, Segama.
Melo was on Feb 24, this year charged in court under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, upon conviction.
No plea was recorded as his plea would only be taken once his case was transferred to the High Court.
Pending the date, Melo was held under remand as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
In another development, the case of eight people charged with committing various drug-related offences has been rescheduled.
Five were charged with taking syabu as framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail, upon conviction.
Three other people were charged with having syabu as charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both, upon conviction.
Two of them have their chemist’s reports ready but the court rescheduled their cases to Oct 20 for hearing.
Meanwhile, the other six people’s chemist’s reports were not ready and the court set Oct 27 for further e-Review.
