Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court re-scheduled the ruling of a case of senior police officer charged with three charges of asking and receiving bribes.
Judge Abu Bakar Manat made the order for Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohd Mahyudin Abdullah, 47.
The new date for ruling to be fixed later.
On the first count, Mahyudin is accused of asking for a bribe of RM20,000 from Josepin J Langkan as an inducement not to take action against her under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
The crime allegedly took place between 9pm and 10.30pm on June 15, 2016 at a car park at the Mini Café and Bar in Lorong Austral, Taman Ridgeview, here.
The offence under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and fine five times the amount involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.
On the second and third count, Mahyudin allegedly received bribes of RM500 and RM5,000 respectively from Josepin for the same purpose on June 15 and 18, 2016.
Several witnesses were called during the hearing.
