12,500kg mangrove barks seized in Kinabatangan
Stacks of mangrove barks meant to be smuggled out to the Philippines from many areas.
KINABATANGAN: The Sabah Forestry Department seized 165 bundles of tangar tree bark weighing over 12,500kg in separate joint raids through Ops Tangar, recently.

Sabah Chief Conservator of Forests Datuk Mashor Mohd Jaini said an integrated operation was conducted at Trusan Kinabatangan Forest Reserve (Sungai Pitas and Sungai Inarab) from Oct. 8-10, involving Sabah Forestry Department enforcers and the General Operations Force.

The illegal activity, he said, was suspected to be done by individuals from the neighbouring country.
