Fake bank statements: Duo’s case re-scheduled

Kota Kinabalu: The case of a man and a woman charged with producing fake bank statements to the Sabah Education Department to get contracts for supplying cooked food to hostels in Pitas had been re-scheduled.Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat made the order for Mohd Zul Azri Abd Shani, 41, and Linah Adou, 43.

The next mention date will be fixed later.

Each of them has three charges against them, respectively.

Mohd Zul and Linah, on the first to third count, allegedly used the forged bank statements dated July 31, Aug 31, and Sept 30, 2016 under Linah Enterprise to get the tender to supply cooked food for the hostel of SK Kanibongan in Pitas where the contract period was from March 1, 2017 to Feb 28, 2019.

They allegedly committed the offence at the State Education Department here on November 24, 2016.

The offence under Section 471 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 468 of the same Code, carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The duo was released on bail of RM10,000 and RM5,000 deposited Mohd Zul while Linah RM3,000, in a local surety.

The court also ordered the duo to to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s office once in two months while their international passports, if any, to be impounded by the court.
