75 active clusters after four new ones are identified
Kuala Lumpur: Four new Covid-19 clusters were identified Thursday, bringing the number of clusters in Malaysia to 75 so far.Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the four are the Olive cluster (Sabah), Bah Pasir (Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya), Bah Pengkalan (Perak) and the Saguking cluster in Labuan.

“The Olive cluster involves the district of Hulu Langat (Selangor) and the districts of Kota Marudu and Penampang (Sabah). The index case for this cluster (case 11,489) was identified in Selangor through screening after returning from a high-risk area (Sabah).

“The patient tested positive on Oct 2 and admitted to the Sungai Buloh hospital while 16 more positive cases were identified through close contact screenings,” he said in an online media conference via the Health Ministry’s Facebook page, Thursday.

Dr Noor Hisham said the Bah Pasir cluster involves the districts of Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan) and Putrajaya, with the index case for the cluster (case 14,329) also identified via screening done after returning from Sabah.

“The index case (index) tested positive Oct 8 and was admitted to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban and four more positive cases were identified after close contact screening. As of noon today, a total of 82 individuals have been screened,” he said, of which five tested positive, 74 negative and three more still awaiting results.

Meanwhile, he said the index cases (14345 and 14346) for the Bah Pengkalan cluster in Perak involve the Hulu Perak district, of which they were also identified after returning from Sabah. Dr Noor Hisham said the index cases (tested positive on Oct 8) were admitted to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh and after close contact screening, five more positive cases were identified.

As of noon Thursday, a total of 330 individuals have been screened, with six testing positive, 47 negative while 277 are still awaiting results, he said.

The Saguking Cluster in Labuan (index case 15657) tested positive after screening upon admission to the Labuan Hospital on Oct 11, with four more cases identified after close contact screenings were done. As of noon Thursday, a total of 43 individuals were screened with five testing positive, three negative and 35 more waiting for results.
