Kota Kinabalu: The Marine Police Force (PPM) detained three men for alleged involvement in thieving activities in the Kota Kinabalu waters.
Sabah (Region 4) PPM Operations Base commanding officer ASP Enturan Lageh said the trio, aged between 31 and 42, were nabbed during an operation codenamed “Op Landai Khas.”
He said acting on public tip-off, a team arrested the trio in Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya Wednesday afternoon.
The arrests, he added, were made following a complaint over the alleged loss of several items from a ship, which was registered under the name “Shasvada”, on Oct 12.
He said police also seized two refrigerators estimated to be worth RM1,900 from one of the suspects’ house.
Investigations found that two of three suspects did not have any identification documents on them.
The suspects have been handed over to the Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
