Kota Kinabalu: A 42-year-old farmer here was charged with raping his niece.
The man was brought before Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakat Manat to face the charge against him on Thursday.
The man pleaded guilty to the charge however, his sentencing was deferred to Nov 13.
He is accused of raping the 10-year-and 10-months-old girl at noon on Sept 30 this year at a palm oil estate in Kota Marudu.
The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between eight and 30 years, and whipping at least 10 strokes of the cane, on conviction.
The court ordered the man to be remanded further pending the date.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Faezah Jafry asked for the adjournment of sentencing as some of documents are still pending.
The prosecution also objected to bail the man. The man who was not represented told the court that none of his family member came to court.
