Strong winds wreak havoc in Putatan
The temporary farmers’ market badly damaged by the strong winds.
PUTATAN: Strong winds accompanied by rain wreaked havoc in the district, damaging buildings and houses, late Friday night.Among those affected during the 10pm-1am incident were the temporary farmers’ market and residential units in Kg Pasir Putih.

State Community Development and People's Welfare Minister Shahelmey Yahya said steps were being undertaken to identify and assess the damage.

He said his Ministry, through the Putatan District Council (MDPTN), had requested engineers from the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) to assess the structural conditions of the affected buildings to ensure safety. “Some of the traders’ business operations were interrupted.
