PETALING JAYA: Four new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in Labuan, Penang, Selangor and Sabah over the past 24 hours, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Sunday.
At a press conference, he said the four clusters were known as Bah Layangan (detected in Labuan), Alma (Penang), Auto (Selangor) and Kepayan Prison (Sabah).
The Bah Layangan cluster, detected in Labuan but also traced to Rembau in Negeri Sembilan, first involved an individual screened after exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 10.
A total of 142 people have been screened with 13 testing positive, 67 negative and 62 awaiting their test results.
The Alma cluster involves the Central and South Seberang Perai districts in Penang. It first involved an individual screened after exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 14.
A total of 183 people have been screened with seven testing positive, 43 negative and 133 waiting for their results.
The Auto cluster involves the Petaling, Kuala Langat and Klang districts in Selangor as well as Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
The index case was detected on Oct 15 after being screened upon exhibiting symptoms.
A total of eight other people linked to the cluster have been screened, while the source of infection is still being investigated.
The Kepayan Prison cluster was detected in Kota Kinabalu. It first involved a patient who was found to be Covid-19 positive on Oct 14 when tested during pre-admission screening.
A total of 170 people have been screened, with 49 testing positive and 121 negative.
Prison clusters contributed 97 cases Sunday. These were the Tembok (8), Remand Prison (22), Seberang Perai (18) and Kepayan Prison (49) clusters.
Other clusters that reported a large number of infections are the Tujuh Serangkai (25), Ramai-Ramai (17) and Tanamera (13) in Sabah.
A total of 27 other clusters in Sabah, Selangor, Melaka, Terengganu, Sarawak, Perak, Labuan, Penang, Kedah and Kuala Lumpur recorded fewer than 10 cases each.
