Kota Kinabalu: The Christian community is urged to refrain from congregating at cemeteries during All Souls’ Day and All Saints’Day on Nov. 1 and 2 in view of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

It was suggested that policemen and Rela personnel be stationed at the entrance to cemeteries during the occasions to avoid an influx of people causing a spread of the virus. The Federation of Consumers Malaysia(Sabah) Chapter said in Sabah, huge crowds congregate at the cemeteries and other burial grounds   to pay respects to deceased loved ones .

It’s Sabah Chairman David Chan said religious community leaders should encourage church members to remember and pray for their loved ones at home, instead.
“Yes, we have a tradition but we also need to do our part in order to flatten the curve. It is a sacrifice that we all need to make as citizens of the country,” he added.
