Habitual addict is charged

Kota Kinabalu: A 31-year-old man was charged with taking syabu repeatedly.Jul Ahmad was brought before High Court Deputy Registrar Dana Arabi Wazani who sat as a Sessions Court Judge, to face the charge against him, Thursday.

However, no plea was taken from Jul pending the chemist’s report.
The court set Nov 18 for mention and ordered Jul to be remanded further.
Jul is accused of taking the drug at 5pm on Oct 10 after his urine was allegedly tested positive at the police station, here.
The charge stated that Jul has three previous convictions for taking drugs.

The offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act read with Section 39C(1) of the same Act which provides for a jail term of between five years and seven years and whipping of not more than three strokes.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Faezah Jafry objected to bail for Jul.

Faezah also informed the court that Jul was tested negative for Covid-19.
Jul was not represented.
