Kota Kinabalu: A giant saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) caught off the waters of Simunul town in Tawi-Tawi on Oct 14 is believed to have originated from Sabah.

This was disclosed by Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao-(Menre-BARMM).

“There is  big possibility that the 17ft and 11-inch  male saltwater  reptile originated near Sabah, Malaysia, and rode along the sea currents to Tawi-Tawi,” MENRE-BARMM chief researcher Abdulmukim Maruji said.
