LUMADAN: The Public Works Department (PWD) here was urged to upgrade a 100-meter gravel road stretch along a hilly area in Kg Karangan here as it poses safety concerns to road users.Lumadan Assemblyman Ruslan Muharam said the road should be asphalted as it is slippery during rainy season which puts village residents in danger.
He said when the unpaved uphill section becomes slippery, it makes it difficult for any vehicle to travel uphill.
He said residents face difficulties every time they use the route during wet spell.
“Based on complaints that I have received, there are residents who are virtually unable to access the road at all during rainy season,” he told Daily Express after inspecting the location recently.
Hence, he said that before any unwanted mishaps occur, PWD should upgrade the stretch concerned promptly for the safety of users. The road is used by more than 300 residents to commute to Beaufort town as well as school children every day.
