SANDAKAN: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) has identified 70 “hotspots” for illegal immigrants (PTIs) to land and also smuggling activities along the east coast from Kudat to Tawau through the implementation of its Ops Cegah PTI (OCP) Darat since Oct 7. Esscom Chief of Staff (Land Operations), SAC M Chandra said 10 of these hotspots are in Sandakan where nine are on land and one in the sea from the north to the south of the district, adding there are 34 villages along this stretch where checks conducted through the OCP PTI Darat showed about 5,000 either do not possess any identification document or have a dubious document.
