New cluster detected in Lahad Datu

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health (MOH) today detected four new Covid-19 clusters involving Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur/Putrajaya and Sarawak, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic).

He said the one in Sabah, the Softwood LD Cluster in Lahad Datu, involved the index case who tested positive from the screening of symptomatic individuals on Oct 30.

He said close contact screenings detected a total of 13 more positive cases and all have been placed in the Payang PPR Low-Risk COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre in Lahad Datu.

“As of noon today, a total of 109 individuals have been screened, with 14 testing positive, including 11 new cases. The other 95 are waiting for their results,” he said at a press conference on Covid-19 developments at the MOH.

In Selangor, the Teratai Cluster was detected in the districts of Klang, Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Hulu Langat, involving the index case who also tested positive from the screening of symptomatic individuals on Nov 2. He said close contact screening detected 73 more positive cases and all have been admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

As of today, a total of 101 individuals have been screened, with 74 testing positive, including 58 new cases, while 17 tested negative and 10 others are awaiting their results, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said the Damanlela Construction Site Cluster, which was detected in Kuala Lumpur, involved the districts of Lembah Pantai, Kepong and Titiwangsa.

“The index case tested positive from the detention screening on Nov 6. Close contact screening found 14 more positive cases and all have been admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“As of noon today, 292 individuals have been screened and 15 tested positive, including 13 new cases. Another 269 tested negative while eight others are waiting for their results,” he said.

Another new cluster, the Mahkota Cluster, was also detected in the districts of Hulu Selangor in Selangor; Kepong and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur; Putrajaya as well as in Sibu, Sarawak.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case tested positive from a close contact screening on Oct 30 and was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Further close contact screenings found eight more positive cases. As of today, a total of 56 individuals have been screened, with nine testing positive, 28 negative while 19 others are awaiting their results.  Meanwhile, he declared the Bah Puchong Cluster involving Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak over today. – Bernama

Up to Nov 7, a total of 88 people were screened from this cluster, with 14 positive cases. The positivity rate for the cluster stood at 15.91 per cent, while no deaths were recorded, he said.
