Kota Kinabalu: The State Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry welcomed the Federal Government’s allocation of over RM100 million in the 2021 budget announced Friday, as it could assist efforts in reviving the sector.Its Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the budget reflects a realistic approach in addressing current affairs, especially the tourism sector that is severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that the allocation will be used best as possible in line with the efforts to revive tourism and maintain its resilience until the Covid-19 pandemic ends.
Jafry also thanked the Government for the special RM1,000 grant which would go to local traders, tour guides, taxi drivers and e-hailing drivers whose businesses have suffered due to declining tourist arrivals.
