PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry has reported 822 Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 769 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 31,073.
In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the 822 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 42,872.
Meanwhile, the two deaths bring the toll to 302.
There are currently 11,497 patients being treated, with 86 receiving intensive care, of which 30 require respiratory assistance.
The deceased were two locals in Sabah, one aged 22 and the other 67. Both patients suffered from existing medical conditions.
There were seven imported cases today.
The bulk of local cases today were from Sabah with 259 cases.
Of the cases in Sabah, 56 were detected from existing clusters, 91 were detected from close contact screenings and 111 in other screenings.
Negeri Sembilan recorded 225 cases, with 221 coming from existing clusters, while Selangor also remains on three-digits with 176 cases.
Of the other states and federal territories, Labuan recorded 46 cases, Penang (26), Kuala Lumpur (17), Kedah (17), Sarawak (14), Perak (14), Johor (10), Melaka (6), Putrajaya (3), Perlis (2) and Kelantan (1).
The bulk of the new cases across the country were detected in the existing clusters.
The health ministry has detected three new Covid-19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are the Karamunting, Saga and Haven clusters, all of which were detected in Sabah.
The Karamunting cluster is active in the Sandakan district. The index case was detected on Oct 15 after screenings of symptomatic individuals. A total of 30 people have been screened so far, with 21 testing positive and nine negative.
The Saga cluster is active in Kota Kinabalu. The index case was detected on Nov 8 after screenings of symptomatic individuals. A total of 56 people have been screened so far, with nine testing positive and 47 awaiting results.
The Haven cluster is active in Lahad Datu and was detected on Nov 5 after screenings of symptomatic individuals. A total of 140 people have been screened, with 11 testing positive and 112 negative. Meanwhile, 17 are awaiting results.
On the other clusters, health director-general Noor Hisham said the Cergas cluster affecting Negeri Sembilan tops the number of new infections with 209.
Other clusters with the most new infections include the Perigi cluster in Negeri Sembilan (29), the Hentian cluster affecting Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan (26), and the Damanlela construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (23).
Overall, 48 clusters recorded new cases today.
