Man admits robbing 71-year-old

Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old man was charged with robbing a 71-year-old man of RM500.

Tos Abdul pleaded guilty to the charge against him before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim.

But when the facts of the case was read, he disputed he threw the stolen wallet into the sea.
The court then rejected his plea and set Dec 7 for case management and ordered Tos to be remanded further.

The offence under Section 392 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 14 years, and whipping, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution while Tos was not represented. Meanwhile, Tos was jailed four months and ordered given a stroke of the cane for entering the State illegally.

He was arrested at the same place and time after the police asked for his identification document.

 The court ordered Tos to serve his jail sentence from the date of arrest.

After serving his sentence, Tos was ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for further action. In another case, a 33-year-old security guard was charged with taking syabu.

However, no plea was taken from Al Nazib who was brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, to face the charge against him.

The court was informed that the chemist’s report on the drug is not ready  and fixed Dec 16 for mention.

Pending the date, Al Nazib was released on bail of RM1,000 in  local surety as well as to report to the nearest police station once in two weeks.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik prosecuted while Counsel Lawrence Lim defended Al Nazib.
