Kota Kinabalu: Sabah like Singapore can bank on fast Covid-19 testing to reopen for travel in and out of the republic, a possibility mentioned in an inaugural virtual tourism forum organised recently with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Tourism Working Group and the National Centre for Apec themed: “Travel Reimagined: an Apec and Airbnb Tourism Forum.”While Sabah depended heavily on international tourism receipts, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Tourism Board, Keith Tan, said: “Tourism contributes four per cent to Singapore’s GDP. After this new normal, it would be suicidal to go about as business as usual as before this pandemic. We are keen to do more business events like conventions in Singapore known for more than 40,000 people events. We have to be innovation driven, able to adjust to technology and adapt to them.”
This is where the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) can develop in future.
