CYBERJAYA: A total of 48 charges pertaining misusing social media (above) have been filed in court for the period between January to September 2020.A statement from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) stated that the figure showed an increase of sixty-six per cent and is higher compare with 2019.
Of the 48, 34 charges involved offences committed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, in which the offences were sharing or disseminating pornographic content recorded the highest number which was 22 charges, followed by the violent content - nine charges and the false content - three charges.
