Kota Kinabalu: Armed men robbed three fishermen of their equipment onboard their
perahu bagang or fishing platform in Kunak waters early Sunday, said a top security official.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) chief Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman said the three robbers took away a 15-horsepower outboard engine, two mobile phones, two fish freezers and two jerrycans from the fishermen in the 3am incident.
The fishermen, aged in their 30s and 40s, were unharmed and the suspects, some of whom were armed with pistols, later fled in a boat, said Ahmad, adding investigation and search for the perpetrators are ongoing.
