Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is committed to assisting the State Government screen samples for Covid-19 and lending a hand to hospitals in need of medical expertise.
Its Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Taufiq Yap Yun Hin
(pic) said the university’s labs had already tested nearly 7,000 samples.
“We are committed to continue helping the State Government, not just in testing samples but also in providing medical specialists to Sabah hospitals that need them. UMS hopes to have more collaborations with the State Government,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Earlier, he paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor at the State Administrative Centre (PPNS), here, to forge closer relationship between UMS and the Sabah Government.
Dr Taufiq said UMS had carried out many projects to assist the people of Sabah, which was not limited to providing education opportunities but also towards enhancing their economic and social wellbeing.
“In general, we want to continue helping the people of Sabah and the State,” he added.
