Kota Kinabalu: Walai Penyu Conservation Park in Pulau Libaran erupted into celebration recently when it hit a record five consecutive sea turtle landings since it was first set up in November 2011 jointly between Alex Yee and Sabah Wildlife Department. It was also a double joy when it recorded the biggest Green turtle ever to land on Nov. 7, which measured 112cm long and 103cm wide ( 3.67ft long 3.37ft wide) , noted Alex. The five turtles laid a total 325 eggs (48, 72, 75, 68 and 62 in that order).
All 325 eggs were collected and buried at the hatchery at the north-eastern end of the island for incubation.
