SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Parliamentary Service Centre will assist a 70-year-old elderly man here apply for the Elderly Assistance Scheme (BOT) from the Department of Social Welfare and Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN).Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee said the senior citizen usually sits outside a bank at IJM township here selling peanuts before his predicament went viral on social media.
She said the Sandakan Parliamentary team went to meet the man to understand his plight and found that he could only afford to buy a can of sugary drink after selling peanuts.
