Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Council of Churches (SCC) will allow churches to hold Christmas celebrations, but limited to only a certain number of people, said its President Bishop James Wong.He said this includes church services on Christmas Eve (Dec 24) and Christmas Day (Dec 25). However, he said the number of allowed congregates are still being discussed and will be announced later on.
“We have proposed one third of the church’s capacity to be allowed. This will be discussed next week,” he said in a statement, Thursday. He added that carolling and open house activities are not allowed.
“Christmas celebration is confined to family members. You cannot invite friends to your house to celebrate,” he said.
He said these SOPs have been decided following a meeting between SCC, Kuala Lumpur Church Heads and National Unity Ministry officials on Wednesday.
