Importer says will backfire but Suhaili says ‘healthy
An outlet in Labuan selling cigarettes.
LABUAN: A leading importer of duty-free cigarettes described the move to remove tax-free tobacco sales here as unwise adding will “backfire” with reduced collection of duties and corporate taxes.

The move is unstudied and did not taken into consideration the present sad situation Labuan is facing.

“As it is the import quality of cigarettes from major suppliers such as Dunhill, Marlboro and Winston is already restricted. For example, we are only permitted to import certain quantity per month, say 500 cartons.
