Raping stepdaughter: Man pleads not guilty

Kota Kinabalu: A 45-year-old man was charged with raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter.The man pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against him on Tuesday.ADVERTISEMENT
He is accused of raping the underaged girl at 2am on March 15 this year at a house in a village in Tamparuli.
The offence, under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of between eight and 30 years, and whipping of at least 10 strokes of the cane, on conviction.
The court set Dec 21 for pre-case trial management and ordered the man to be remanded further pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Addibah Saiful informed the court that the prosecution will call about six witnesses to testify during the hearing.ADVERTISEMENT
The man was not represented.
In another case, a 37-year-old Filipino was sentenced to three months’ jail for entering the State illegally.

Mohd Said Rosmin Abidin admitted to entering the State without any document and he was arrested on Nov 11 at Beaufort after failing to produce his identity document to the police.
During mitigation, Mohd Said told the court that he had been in the State since 2016 without document and worked at the oil palm estate.
According to Mohd Said, he is married with four children.
He asked to be returned to his hometown as soon as possible.

The court ordered the foreigner to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and referred to the Immigration Department upon completing his jail sentence.
