Two more places under EMCO; three others ended
Kuala Lumpur: A two-week Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be implemented in Taman Telipok Ria in Tuaran, Sabah, and the sub-district of Sungai Seluang, Kulim in Kedah.

On the flip side, the EMCO in three places in Kudat, Sabah, have been ended.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO in Taman Telipok Ria and Sungai Seluang will take effect on Friday and will last till Dec 10.

He said, as of Sunday, the Health Ministry had carried out 2,609 tests in Taman Telipok Ria and found 253 people were positive for Covid-19, adding that results were still pending for 581 samples.

"The enforcement of the EMCO (in Taman Telipok Ria) will involve 3,400 households and 18,000 residents," he told reporters.

In Sungai Seluang, said Ismail Sabri, 197 tests had been carried out, with 50 positive Covid-19 cases so far.

"A total of 1,412 households with 6,000 residents from Taman Bayam, Taman Bayam Indah, Taman Kangkung 1 and 2, Taman Halia, Taman Cekur Manis, Taman Kobis, Taman Sawi, and Taman Seri Limau will be affected by the order.

"With the enforcement of the EMCO, all residents must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP)."

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO enforced in Kampung Pengaraban, Kampung Tanjung Kapor and Kampung Landung Ayang in Kudat will be lifted tomorrow as scheduled.

The three places had initially been placed under EMCO from Oct 30 to Nove 13, but this was later extended.

Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry had carried out 3,084 screening tests in the three areas and recorded 345 positive cases.

"Based on the risk assessment conducted by the ministry, there is a downward trend in the infection cases (there) and the situation is under control. The special meeting today agreed to end the EMCO at these three locations tomorrow as scheduled.

"However, all residents are still subjected to the SOP of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) enforced throughout Sabah," he said.
