Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor
(pic) congratulated the Federal Government on the approval of the RM322.5 billion National 2021 Budget at the policy stage at the Dewan Rakyat Thursday.
Under the passed Budget, it would see, among others, an additional RM50 million allocation to Sabah in December to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hajiji said Sabah has benefited from a RM3 billion Federal allocation in the fight against Covid-19 since the pandemic struck early this year through various channels, including Prihatin and Penjana, as well as Nadma.
“Approval of the Budget at this stage shows the maturity of all MPs and Opposition. This will augur well for Sabah as the people will benefit from Budget 2021.
“Hence, on behalf of the Sabah Government, I would like to congratulate the Perikatan Nasional Federal Government on the approval of its maiden budget,” he said.
The budget is 20.6 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product, higher than the previous year’s allocation of RM297 billion and the biggest Federal Budget so far.
Hajiji also assured that the State Government would work closely with its Federal counterparts in ensuring all development programmes outlined in the 2021 Budget are successfully implemented.
