Filipino gets jail for having stolen guitar

Kota Kinabalu: A 24-year-old Filipino was sent to prison for eight months by the Magistrate’s Court here for having a stolen guitar.Adzpar Iddin pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence at 4.30pm on Nov 13 in an empty house, Jalan Kuala Laut, Kg Likas here.ADVERTISEMENT
The prosecution in presenting the facts of the case, told the court that the guitar owner lodged a police report on Nov 12 claiming that her house in Kg Likas was broken into and several items went missing including the said guitar.
A man, identified as Adzpar was arrested later on the same day and on Nov 13, he led the police to the recovery of the guitar at the empty house.
The guitar owner identified it belonging to her based on the physical condition of the guitar.
The court heard that Adzpar deliberately kept the guitar at the empty house as he knew it was stolen.ADVERTISEMENT
Unrepresented Adzpar, who has no document, requested for a leniency.
The court ordered Adzpar to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and ordered him be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.

Adzpar was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or fine or both on conviction. Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik prosecuted.
