Health ministry mulls sending frontliners in Sabah back to Selangor, Negeri Sembilan
PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry is considering instructing its medical personnel and public healthcare workers in Sabah to return and assist in handling Covid-19 in their respective states, said health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“There have been requests for staff from Selangor and Negeri Sembilan who are working in Sabah to come back.

“The ministry notes the decreasing trend in cases in Sabah and we may consider instructing them to return to their own states to help with case detection and risk assessment,” he said today.

Noor Hisham added that so far, 59 medical personnel and 57 public healthcare workers had been mobilised to conduct screenings at high-risk areas within Selangor.

Another 64 public healthcare workers had also been sent to Selangor from other states in the peninsula, he said.

Noting the high number of daily infections in Selangor, Noor Hisham stressed that these were mainly concentrated in specific localities.

He also said the virus from the Teratai cluster involving factory workers in Meru, Klang, had now spread to the community.

“When one (of the workers) is infected, they bring the virus home and infect their family members. There are now 150 positive cases in the community, most of whom are Malaysians.”
