LABUAN: Labuan Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) on Wednesday welcomed the appointment of its divisional women chief, Datin Herin Lumpisau

PBS Vice-President Datuk Peter Mak said the appointment (for a two-year term) reflected the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government as an inclusive government and one that listened to the people.
“Labuan PBS is grateful for the appointment of Datin Herin as a member of the board of directors of Labuan Corporation, an agency under the Federal Territories Ministry.
“In this regard, we record our utmost thanks and appreciation to FT Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa for this appointment and his willingness to listen to our concern for a more inclusive representation in Labuan’s local authority,” he said.
Mak said Labuan PBS also thanked PBS President and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, for his understanding of and bringing up its concern to the FT Minister.
He is optimistic that Herin, who is also a PBS Wanita central exco member, will serve to the best of her ability for the good and wellbeing of Labuan and its residents.
The recent appointment of Labuan Corporation’s advisory council (for the next two years) erupted into controversy when the new line-up showed no representative from the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) community.
Mak, who is also PBS Labuan Chief, cried foul over the exclusion of the KDM community in the council, saying it was not inclusive and reflective of the racial composition of the island’s population.
