MEMBAKUT: The Sabah Ethnic Association (Presbah) is urging the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to initiate river-deepening projects here to mitigate flood risks.Its President Yahya Ahmad said this follows the residents’ growing concern regarding floods, especially in low-lying areas, given Sabah’s current rainy season and erratic weather.
Yahya believes the recurring floods are attributed to an inefficient drainage system and non-smooth flow of waters.
