Kota Kinabalu: A 20-year-old man was charged with committing sexual abuse against a nine-year-old boy.

Alias Azrin pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim to the charge against him on Thursday.

Alias is accused of committing the offence by kissing the boy’s mouth at 10am on Nov 18 this year inside a toilet of a house in Beaufort.

The offence under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years’ jail and whipping, on conviction.

The court fixed Jan 4 next year for case management and ordered Alias to be remanded further pending the disposal of his case. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nureen Natasha Mohd Raffie appeared for the prosecution while Alias was not represented.
