East Jakarta Education Head dies from Covid-19
JAKARTA: East Jakarta Education Head Ade Yulia Narun (pic) reportedly passed away due to Covid-19 on Wednesday.

The news of the death was confirmed by the city Mayor M Anwar. “Yes, [he dies of] Covid-19,” said Anwar here on Thursday.

Ade Yulia succumbed to the illness at Duren Sawit Hospital in East Jakarta. He would be buried at Pondok Ranggon Public Cemetery under the Covid-19 protocol.

The passage of Ade Yulia added to the long list of Jakarta provincial administration officials who died after contracting the coronavirus disease.

Previously, Jakarta Secretary Saefullah, Head of South Meruya Subdistrict Ubay Hasan, and Head of Kelapa Gading District M Hermawan reportedly died of the virus infection.

As of December 2, Jakarta has 139,085 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Of that number, 126,163 people made recoveries, causing the recovery rate at 90.7 per cent, and 2,710 people died with a death rate of 1.9 per cent.

Jakarta Health Agency confirmed on Tuesday that the capital city has 10,212 active cases. Throughout the last week, the positivity rate reached 8.6 per cent, while the cumulative rate since the first cases were discovered in March 2020 hit 8.3 per cent. The rate exceeded the recommended safe rate by WHO of 5 per cent.
