Kota Kinabalu: Security forces arrested three Filipinos suspected to have been involved in four recent armed sea robberies in Sabah’s east coast and seized items including a handgun and ammunition from two of them in two separate island raids off Semporna.
Eastern Sabah Security Command chief Dato’ Ahmad Fuad Othman, in a statement, said the three men aged between 20 and 50 were nabbed on Pulau Nusa Tengah and Pulau Omadal in the Friday and Saturday operations.
The raiding teams seized a Colt handgun (
pictured below), a magazine, 25 .45 rounds, a machete, 30hp outboard engine, mobile phone, sling bag and a sampan (
pictured below).
Ahmad Fuad said they believed they solved three sea robbery cases in Inderasabah, Tawau waters and one in Kunak with the arrests.
