Man linked to robbery to face trial next year

Kota Kinabalu: A man, who was charged with abetting his accomplices in a robbery three months ago, will go on trial on May 5-6, next year.

Azlan Sulaiman, who was brought before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus for pre-trial case management, maintained his innocence to the charge.

He claimed to the court that he was not the one who commits the offence.

Azlan was accused of abetting two others who are still at large by driving a Perodua Viva car to run away after one of the accomplices robbing one Suriani Nordin at 9.15pm on Sept 2, at the car park in front of a shop here.

In another case, the court set Jan 12 for pre-trial case management for the case of a man and a woman, who were charged with armed gang robbery.

Siti Rubayah Jafdin, 29, and Wan Mohd Afzannizal Mohd Isa, 37, were accused of robbing the Kedai Runcit H&M of RM6,000 cash with a machete at Kg Rampayan Laut in Kota Belud at 8.10am on Oct 5.

They were charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code which is punishable under Section 397, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

The accused, who were jobless, were previously offered bail at RM10,000 bail with two local sureties each.

They were unrepresented.
