JAKARTA: The Indonesian National Police (Polri) chief Idham Azis on Thursday claims the 2020 regional head elections (Pilkada) had run smoothly and safely in the 270 regions on Wednesday (Dec 9).

“We are grateful that we ran a safe and secure 2020 Pilkada without any hindrance,” wrote Idham in Thursday’s written release.

He said that police have yet received any report about significant incidents during the nationwide voting process on Wednesday and hopes that the situation that is under control like this will continue.
“We hope the synergy that is built in every region can be maintained in order to create a secure climate for people,” said the Police chief.
