LAHAD DATU: A 36-year-old woman was killed while her 59-year-old husband sustained serious injuries in an accident involving a Grand Livina and a Toyota Revo at Km 36, Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau, on Thursday.
District Police Chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said preliminary investigations showed the Revo was heading towards Tawau from Sandakan while the Livina was on the way to Lahad Datu from Tawau.
“On reaching Km 36, the Revo’s 25-year-old male driver lost control of the wheels and swerved to the opposite lane before colliding with the Livina.
“The impact caused the couple in the Livina and the Revo driver to suffer serious injuries. The three were extricated from the wreckage by Fire and Rescue personnel who were alerted by the police upon receiving information about the incident.
“The victims were taken in an ambulance to the hospital where the woman victim died while receiving treatment,” he said.
Rohan said investigation was still ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those who witnessed the incident to contact Inspector Muhammad Rasul at 089-881255 (ext 414) to assist in the investigation.
