Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court here fixed April next year for the trial of a youth who was charged with raping his underaged girlfriend.
Judge Elsie Primus set April 19-20 for the trial of the 18-year-old accused during mention of his case on Friday.
The accused allegedly raped the 14-year-old girl in a house at a village in Kota Marudu between 9am and 5pm, between July 1, 2019 and Feb 12 this year.
The charge was framed under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Rustam Sanip said the prosecution is expected to call six witnesses.
The accused was ordered to be remanded further pending the date.
He was represented by counsel Mohd Ari Nadzrah Abd Rahman.
