KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) has set its
hala tuju (direction) to expand its wings to the peninsula, to become an alternative and pioneer of a multiracial party at the national-level.
Its President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal
(pix) said the party must chart the way forward, which he believes they can do, for this change to come in the future, to enable them to not only take over the helm of administration in Sabah but also at the national-level.
He said Sabah and a friend in Borneo (Sarawak) has been the determinant of the country’s key economic resources for 60 years, and thus it is time for Sabah to not only involve in negotiation, but leaders from Sabah also need to be one of those pulling the strings in Malaysia.
“In Semenanjung (Peninsular Malaysia), there are over 300,000 Sabahans who work in Johor, Selangor and various other places, who definitely want a political party that fights for the rights of Sabahans in the national development process.
“We are here to build a nation, not a particular race or religion,” said Mohd Shafie, who is also former Chief Minister, when officiating at the Warisan’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), here, Saturday.
