Kota Kinabalu: Three people escaped unscathed when the Proton car they were travelling in was involved in an overtaking accident at Km 16, Jalan Sulaman, near the University Apartment junction, on Sunday.

In the 9.45pm incident, its 38-year-old driver along with his wife and nephew were heading towards Tuaran when a Kancil emerged from behind manoeuvring to the left and right and overtaking a few vehicles, including theirs.

Fearing a collision, the Proton driver applied the brake, causing a Fortuner driven by a 58-year-old man to hit their vehicle from behind.

The impact caused their vehicle to spin before landing upside down in a roadside ditch. Fortunately, all four, including the Fortuner driver, escaped unscathed.
