Kota Kinabalu: The case of an Indonesian fisherman charged with murdering his former wife had been transferred to the High Court.
Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles made the order for Melo Guli after the prosecution informed the court about the new development pertaining to the case.
The prosecution said they received the requisition to transfer the case to the High Court as the investigation was completed.
Melo, 37, is accused of killing vegetable seller, Rina Amat, 37, a foreigner with a passport at 2.30pm on Feb 11 this year in a rented room on the second floor of Block I, Segama, here.
He was on Feb 24, this year, charged in court under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, on conviction.
So far no plea was recorded as his plea would only be taken at the High Court.
Pending the date, Melo was held under remand as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
