SABAH’s GROWTH this year is expected to contract to 15 to 19 per cent compared to 0.5pc in 2019, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He said dependency on palm oil and crude oil has continued to influence the State’s overall growth.
The growth of the agricultural sector is supported by palm oil as its sub-sector which is also the biggest contributor to Sabah’s agricultural GDP (gross domestic product),” he said when tabling the 2021 State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly, Friday.
“By mid-2020, crude palm oil production in Sabah reached 2.26 million metric tonnes. This has shown a decrease of 11.4pc compared to the same period the previous year.
