A WORLDVIEW approach based on new, realistic, rational and mature thinking is needed in assessing the role of the Community Communication Department (J-KOM), said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

In this connection, he said all quarters should develop a new thinking on two-way communication between the government and the people, especially at the grassroots level, that is consistent with new interests, challenges and needs.

“I hope we can reset our thinking on J-KOM. I do not mean to say we can settle all our differences on this department but the fact is that J-KOM is not Jasa (Special Affairs Department),” he said when winding up the debate on the 2021 Supply Bill in the Dewan Negara Tuesday.

Saifuddin reiterated that the main task of J-KOM now was to implement the Communication Strategy for the New Normal Culture (Covid-19 pandemic).

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
In this regard, he said the function of J-KOM would not overlap with those of agencies under other ministries in terms of target groups, programme approach and activities.

“J-KOM will also take into consideration the space for saving under this allocation in Budget 2021.”
