Kota Kinabalu: A 48-year-old woman who claimed that she borrowed her friend’s MyKad to go back to Sabah from Kuala Lumpur, was jailed two years and fined RM2,000 or eight months’ jail for using someone else’s Mykad.Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun meted out the sentence to Gina Bahai who pleaded guilty to the charge against her on Thursday.
Gina was found using the document under the name Sri Dwi Hakim bearing the serial number 870512-12-5472 at 11.55pm on Dec 25 this year at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, here.
The offence under Section 25 (1) (o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 provides for a jail term of up to three years, or fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000, or both, on conviction.
