Kota Kinabalu: The Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to the State’s once-flourishing tourism industry.Based on the statistics from the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), the State witnessed an 82.1 per cent drop in international arrivals from January-August this year, compared to the same period last year.
Domestic arrivals registered a 61.4 per cent decrease and a 68.8 per cent decline in total arrivals.
Chinese tourists were the largest number of foreigners to visit the State last year, totalling 598,566 people.
