Kota Kinabalu: The Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry welcomes the proposal to include Kaamatan and Gawai festivals in the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia itinerary.Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin (pic) said such move would attract tourists to experience the unique ethnic culture in Sabah.
“I am confident this is one of the best efforts to preserve culture and customs,” he said in a statement, Monday.
Kaamatan Festival or Harvest Festival is celebrated by the Kadazan Dusun Murut communities on Mai 30 and 31 annually as a sign of gratitude after the harvest season.
