PUTATAN: Putatan Umno Division wants the Putatan parliamentary seat, which was “loaned” to a former Barisan Nasional (BN) component, to be returned to the party to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15). The Putatan parliamentary seat is presently held by Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) which defeated Upko, a former BN component party, in the GE14. Upko had, in May 2018, pulled out from BN to become part of the opposition Warisan Plus component.
Putatan Umno Chief, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, said the division is firm in wanting the Putatan parliamentary seat to be returned to Umno-BN because it was originally held by BN previously.
“The seat was asked for and given to Upko, a former BN component. This seat must be returned to Umno because of the composition of population within the Putatan parliamentary constituency.
